Bulawayo, July 17, 2017 – WAR Veterans Minister Tshinga Dube Sunday railed war veterans faction leader Mandi Chimene and her deputy George Mlala accusing them of thievery and attempts to destroy Zanu PF.

Dube recently came under siege from the war veterans faction led by the Manicaland provincial affairs minister for his comments there was nothing wrong with open discussion around President Robert Mugabe’s succession.

But as it seems he could have weathered the storm, the Makokoba legislator took the occasion of his weekend address to war veterans in his constituency on Sunday to savage his Zanu PF comrades turned bitter rivals.

“The faction led by Cdes Mandi Chimene and George Mlala mobilised people and bused them to Harare where they even booked street kids at Rainbow Towers Hotel so that they demonstrate against me on false claims that I insulted the President.

“They elected themselves as war veterans and now they are fighting me because I refused to recognise their faction,” he said.

The current war veterans executive is led by ousted war veterans minister Chris Mutsvangwa who was elected into the position.

Dube said he did not recognise Chimene’s war veterans faction which emerged during the time Mutsvangwa had back on the wall for organising what President Robert Mugabe later dismissed as an illegal war veterans meeting, some months ago.

“He (Mlala) is working against the party and war veterans,” Dune said.

“He is destroying the party in Bulawayo and he even had the guts to impose himself as the party’s provincial secretary for security yet we know how corrupt he is. He is a thief of the highest order and a devil incarnate. There is only one war veterans association in the country not this group led Cdes Chimene and Mlala,” he said.

“If you want to form your own association, you can go ahead and do that. We don’t want mercenaries.”

Dube also accused Mlala of working in cahoots with a Pakistani businessman to externalise foreign currency from the country.

Mlala, according to Dube, was used to receiving large sums of cash in protection fees for the businessman.
