Polad to hold economic summit

The Political Actors Dialogue (Polad) economic committee chairperson
Trust Chikohora has said his committee will convene an economic summit
in the first quarter of this year.

Chikohora who is also Coalition of Democrats leader said the economic
indaba will draw stakeholders from all sectors of the economy.

‘Our flagship event for the first quarter this year as a committee is
an economic summit expected at the end of February,’Chikohora told
Radiovop in an interview.

‘All major stakeholders in the economy including ZNCC, CZI, labour
representatives ZCTU, consumer bodies as CCZ, development agencies,
UNDP and international financial institutions IMF, World Bank as well
as investors among others are expected to attend.’

Chikohora added: ‘We will grapple with the question of the country’s
economy and what needs to be done to make it work again.’

He said the committee was going to move away from the prescriptive
approach and get facts on the ground in a bid to resuscitate the
economy.

‘We are going to visit industries,mines and other business
establishments before handing our recommendations to the President
(Emmerson Mnangagwa).
