A Kadoma-based hip hop artiste believes his first album is going to be a force to reckon with on the local music scene.
23-year-old Alfred Alubi told Radio VOP that his debut album ‘Runt of The Family’ has all the hallmarks of becoming his breakthrough into the local showbiz .
“I have been working on this album for quite a long time now and have done all the homework to ensure that it is able to catapult me to dizzy heights,” said the former Kwayedza Secondary School student.
Alubi who is affectionately known as Hasheem, says he got exposed to hip hop at a tender age by his elder brother who was an avid follower of the genre.
“I fell much in love with hip hop when I was young because my elder brother was a keen follower of the genre ,”narrates Alubi.
The hip hop artiste who sing about consciousness on various social norms and values is greatly inspired by American hip hop artiste J.Cole.
“I draw my inspiration from J.Cole whose conscious lyrics provoke people to think about social norms and values,” added the young musician.
While some parents usually don’t support their children to get into the arts industry.
“I am proud to say that my parents have been my biggest supporters in my music career despite that they don’t have a background in the arts industry,” revealed Alubi
Prior to the debut album, Hasheem has produced a catalogue of singles which include ‘Money on My Mind’ which was produced when he was only 15 .
Kadoma boasts of young artistes who have been able to get to stardom and these include Tatenda Chisamba known as Trice, Kinnah and Moustafi just to mention but a few.
