Mtukudzi’s last show for Bulawayo fans has been set for 23 September at the Large City Hall, Hardcore World Entertainment (HWE), the promoters of the music show said.
The manager of HWE, Tawanda Chingarah said Mtukudzi will perfom alongside Jeys Marabini and Winky Dee.
“This is the first time that the biggest artiste in the country will be performing with Bulawayo’ biggest artiste, Marabini and HWE will be promoting the show,” Chingarah said.
Mtukudzi was in Bulawayo in June.
Chingarah said the show would kick off at 7 till late and HWE, adding that the promoters will allocate more time to Mtukudzi’s supporting acts, Marabini and Winky Dee as a way of promoting them.
“Apart from promoting the supporting act, this is a form of social cohesion at its peak.
“It is breathtaking to realize that musicians from different backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives as well as tastes in music, would be working together,” he said.
Mtukudzi recently released his 60th album, Abi’angu (Duets Of My Time).
Abi’angu is a compilation of duets Tuku did with various artists, among them Judith Sephuma and Ringo Madlingozi.
The man who has inspired what’s known as the “Tuku beat”, drawing on both western and African influences, from pop to township jive, rumba to traditional Shona rhythms has attracted an international audience with his music.
Mtukudzi’s shows have been a huge success, making him one of the few Zimbabwean musicians who have made a realistic fortune from their talents.
