American Tourist Shot In Joburg

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Leon Engelbrecht, from the police’s World Cup National Joint Operations Centre, said 35-year-old David Bueche was assaulted and shot in the arm after leaving Marlboro station just after 21:00 on Wednesday night.

“He was walking in Northway Street from the Gautrain station to a backpackers lodge,” said Engelbrecht. “He was assaulted, shot and robbed by four men in an unknown vehicle.”

Bueche had just arrived in the country, and took the Gautrain from OR Tambo International Airport to Marlboro station.

He was taken to the Sunninghill Clinic and was in a stable condition.

“He is here on holiday and not for the World Cup,” said Engelbrecht.
