Gweru was a councillor during the Misheck Kagurabadza led council that was suspended by the Minister of local government Ignatius Chombo.
Gweru who was being charged of breaching the Public Order and Security Act, POSA, spent the whole weekend at Mutare Central holding cells.
Mutare provincial magistrate Lucy Anne Mungwari granted Gweru bail of US$50, ordered him not to interfere with state witnesses and that he should continue to reside at his given address. He was remanded to out of custody to February 11 2011.
The state which was represented by Truman Joma alleged that on February 4 Gweru a ward seven chairman held a political meeting at his house in Dangamvura’s area C when the police arrested him.
