BAZ Reveals Shortlisted Local Commercial Radio Licence Applicants

Harare, May  20, 2014-The Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) has released a list of 18 applicants shortlisted for local commercial radio licences.
In a statement to the ZBC News, BAZ CEO, Mr Obert Muganyura said applicants who have been shortlisted will be required to appear before public hearings to determine their suitability to be licensed as required in terms of the Broadcasting Services Act chapter 12.06.

He said since the licences are for the provision of local services, the hearings will be conducted in those areas where the services are to be provided to enable the communities hosting these stations to assist the authorities in determining the applicants’ suitability to be licensed in terms of the law.

Mr Muganyura added that the shortlisted applicants will be advised of the dates, times and venues of the public hearings through written and published notices.
