Bhasikiti Challenges High Court Ruling, Says Bhunu Erred

MASVINGO – With his Whats App status reading, “Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right,” expelled and ever raging, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti Chuma on Friday challenged Thursday’s High Court ruling as unjust and further blasted presiding High Court Judge Justice Chinembiri Bhunu as mislead upon passing a judgement that justified Zanu(PF)’s action in firing him from the party and also withdrawing him from his parliamentary seat.

Bhasikiti said Chinembiri is misguided on the argument that he partook a new task aside from that he was mandated to do by the Constitutional Court. Bhasikiti further said he has since filed an appeal to the constitutional court against the judgement.

“Chinembiri, is misguided. He made a ruling which is totally out of bound from what he was demanded to do by constitutional court. The instruction was simple, that was to determine the legality of my expulsion not all that business he poked his nose into.

“I have since filed an appeal at the constitutional court so that justice sees the light of the day,” said Bhasikiti.

Bhasikiti further argued that Bhunu made a judgement based on the Zanu(PF) party constitution as if it’s the bible law of the nation.

“Instead of handling the matter legally in accordance to the Zimbabwean Constitution, Bhunu went on to make a ruling from the Zanu(PF) party constitution as if it is the bible law of the nation,” challenged Bhasikiti.

The ousted former Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Mwenezi legislator added that he is not going to neglect the Chingwizi community on projects he had embarked on saying he is determined to pull them through the burdens they are currently going through.

“I am not going to neglect the Chingwizi community regarding that a little yet nearer to nothing has been done to improve the livelihood of the flood stricken area. As soon as I get done with these court wrangles, I am going back to that community and use my own resources to look for even donor aid so that the Chingwizi victims are rescued from the challenges they are currently facing,” vowed Bhasikiti.

The High Court on Thursday threw out Bhasikiti’s review application saying he had prematurely rushed to the High Court without exhausting the available remedies. Justice Bhunu further dismissed the application saying that Zanu(PF)’s Constitution clearly indicated that an aggrieved party may challenge expulsion with the Central Committee before approaching the High Court.
