Billiart Warned Against Moving To Europe

This follows reports that a number of clubs such as England, Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium are interested in securing the services of the Ajax Cape Town midfielder, who was Zimbabwe’s man of the match in the 3-1 win over Angola last Sunday.

Mugeyi, an assistant coach at Ajax Cape Town, says Billiart should spend at least another season in South African football before deciding to move abroad.

“In my opinion, he still needs another year or two in the Premier Soccer League to gain more experience before he goes to Europe. Sending the boy to Europe now will destroy him since he still has to work on his game.” says Mugeyi.

He added, “He is a key factor in the team with great technical ability. He is quick, aggressive and very confident on the ball. He has a good eye for goal and can play in any attacking position.”

Billiart produced an impressive display during his team’s 1-1 draw with English Premiership giants Manchester United when the Red Devils were on a tour of South Africa. He received praise from Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Billiart is under the management of former Warriors midfielder Edzai Kasinauyo who himself also played in South Africa for Ajax Cape Town. Kasinauyo could not be reached to shed light on the latest developments.

Billiart had a hand in all the three gaols that Zimbabwe scored in that vital 3-1 win over the Black Antelopes in the final qualifying round for a place at the 2013 African Cup of Nations finals to be held in South Africa in January.

Angola and Zimbabwe will meet in the return leg in Luanda during the weekend of 12 to 14 October.
