Harare, November 26, 2016 – HARARE premiership giants Caps United have clincehed the 2016 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title, beating air force side Chapungu by a goal to nil.

A scrambled second minute goal by Simba Nhivi saw the Green Machine hang on to the slender lead to clinch the title.

Makepekepe endured anxious moments as news filtered through from Bulawayo that FC Platinum were 3 nil up against Tsholotsho.

Anything short of a victory would have been disastrous for the Lloyd Chitembwe coached side which won the premiership with an impressive 63 points, 2 ahead of FC Platinum.

The victory by Caps United at Ascot Stadium in Gweru saw hundreds of its supporters who endured the afternoon rains in the stands, invade the pitch in celebration.

Overwhelmed police officers allowed them to witness the handing over of the trophy inside the pitch.

The champions were presented with a $100,000 cheque.
