Caps United Skipper Method Mwanjali Freed On Bail

EMBATTLED CAPS United captain Method Mwanjali (pictured) is out of remand prison after he was on Monday granted $100 bail for attempted murder by the High Court.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Mpumalanga Black Aces star had been remanded in custody last week for allegedly stabbing with knife, a Harare man, one Tonderai Nhunzvi in the stomach during a midnight fracas in the parking lot of Long Chen Plaza over a week ago.

He was arrested together with teammates Ashford Gutu who was granted bail last week.

The two are set to return to the courts 4 May.

The state alleges that the parties met at met at an intersection in the complex with their vehicles almost colliding.

Gutu, who was behind the wheel, got out of the vehicle and charged towards Nhunzvi who had three passengers on board before confronting and accusing him of recklessness.

As Gutu was shouting, Nhunzvi winded up his car windows and this irritated Gutu who used an unknown object to smash the windscreen.

Mwanjali joined the fracas and drawing a knife to stab Nhunzvi in the stomach.

Gutu is being charged for property damage.

Mwanjali could be in for a hostile reception from Dynamos’ vociferous fans if he makes it into the team sheet when the city rivals clash in a potentially explosive PSL encounter this coming weekend.
