Chaos Rocks ZIFA

Henrietta Rushwaya, the ZIFA chief executive officer said the association was looking for amicable settlement with Chidzambwa. It is understood that the former Dynamos legend has engaged lawyers in a bid to recover close to US$40 000 in unpaid salary and allowances. The coach recently won the COSAFA Senior Challenge which the country hosted last year but has not been paid his dues.

The coach was engaged a year ago after ZIFA terminated the contract for Brazilian coach Valinhos. The Brazilian successfully lodged his complaint with world football body FIFA and recovered his salary which was deducted from the grant due to ZIFA this year. He was owed close to US$75 000 which was deducted from the US$250 000 due to ZIFA this year.

Meanwhile the Warriors have embarked on an unsanctioned trip to Thailand. the team has so far played three matches against Thailand and Selangor. However the trip was not sanctioned by the ZIFA board.

Rushwaya said the Warriors were benefiting close to US$25 000 by taking part in the widely criticised money games. The team comprise home based players and under the tutelage of former Monomotapa coach Norman Mapeza who has taken over from Chidzambwa.

In another development Rushwaya denied a report that the Warriors would paly South Africa in international friendly on January 28. The World Cup hosts have stepped up preparations for the biggest football showcase in June. Rushwaya said there has been no confirmation from the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) on the match.
