A source told Radio VOP that Mugabe was told about this during closed door briefings when he visited Chiadzwa.
The sources said the Chinese feared the leader of the mainstream Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) Morgan Tsvangirai will chase them in favour of Western companies.
There are two Chinese companies with mining concessions in Chiadzwa. These are Sino-Zimbabwe and Anjin-Zimbabwe.
“The President was told that judging by the way the Chinese companies are extracting the diamonds I think in no time the resources will be finished,” said a source that was in the closed door meeting.
“But from the way I look at it these companies are not sure whether they will retain their concessions if anything happens to the President, who was instrumental in bringing them here.”
President Mugabe has a soft spot for Chinese investments since he fell out with Western Powers because of his political and economic policies.
“That is why they are looting the diamonds. They have no choice because the future is not certain.”
