Nyoni said Zifa should abandon the old system whereby the secretariat on anybody within the Zifa board just appoints national coaches without a defined selection criteria.
Nyoni said the technical committee should be given the chance to lay down the requirements such as qualifications and experience for one to become a national coach.
He said his association was worried that with a month before Zimbabwe takes part in the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, the national coach has not yet been appointed. He said the national coach has to be appointed now.
Norman Mapeza was appointed caretaker coach for the Warriors following the departure of Sunday Chidzambwa for South African side Free State Stars. He has now been reassigned to the Under 23 while both the Under 17 and Under 20 teams do not have national coaches.
When the Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches Association came into office in January last year, they recommended that a committee including Chidzambwa, Gibson Homela, Benedict Moyo and Nelson Matongorere be tasked with the appointment of coaches.
The recommendation was not considered as Chiudzamwa went on to become the national coach following the departure of Brazilian Valinhos.
