Dozens In Court Solidarity With Pastor Mawarire

By Staff Reporter

Harare, July 13, 2016 – DOZENS of Zimbabweans among them civil society activists and human rights lawyers are at Harare’s Magistrate’s Court to witness the initial court hearing for activist and cleric Pastor Evan Mawarire.

A heavy police presence is in attendance.

The matter is being heard in court number 6 where the #ThisFlag campaigner was set to appear.

Opposition MDC-T politicians Nelson Chamisa, Job Sikhala and pro-democracy activist Patson Dzamara were among those who packed the courtroom.

Zimbabweans, some of them with national flags which have become synonymous with Mawarire’s campaign, said they were there to make a statement that government could not target one individual for what he rightly stood for.

Mawarire was arrested Tuesday for allegedly inciting public violence, a charge the civil rights activist denies.
