Radio VOP is reliably informed that Zanu (PF) national commissar and Minister of Information and Publicity Webster Shamu and Dr Sydney Sekeramai had in the past few weeks, been pestering the colliery management, especially the managing director Fred Moyo, to let go the player “as payment will be discussed at a later stage”.
Shamu is the Dynamos patron.
National Security Minister, Dr Sydney Sekeramayi, was reported to have joined the fray by urging the colliery to release the player to DeMbare for free if not for a song. Hwange Football Club executive members have however, stuck to their guns by refusing to let go the player.
It is understood Hwange was accusing the Glamour Boys of acting in bad faith by luring the player without talking to them.
The player has already featured in the continental championships against FC Lupopo of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Botswana’s Gaborone United.
Secretary and spokesperson of the colliery team, Burzil Dube, expressed ignorance on the interference by politicians.
“Of late we have been communicating a Mr Munetsi and nothing has been forthcoming in terms of payment despite numerous assurances. I am not aware of any form of pressure which has been exerted upon us unless it is being applied to Dynamos who are somehow interested in the player, “ Dube said.
The colliery team is reported to have put a price tag of US$25 000 on the player and Dynamos was under pressure to raise the money as soon as possible.
