Dynamos Win Bob 90 Sup8r Cup But….

Radio VOP Sports Reporter

Harare.March 16, 2014-Dynamos have won the Bob 90 Sup8r Cup but the popular Harare club are
not smiling after taking home a paltry $45 000.
This is far much less that the $110 000 they received for winning the
same tournament last year and coincidentally after beating the same
opponents albeit on a 6-1 home and away aggregate.
Highlanders on their part took home $25 000 compared to the $70 000
they got  last year but sources have revealed that sponsors have not
honoured their side of the bargain despite having pledged to bankroll
the four year old tournament.
Goals from Masimba Mambare and Ronald Chitiyo gave the former Caf
Champions League finalists the win and their first silverware of the
season. Mambare played for Highlanders last season after joining them
from Motor Action.
Ronald Chitiyo of Dynamos who joined them at the beginning of this
season from Monomotapa was named the player of the tournament.
The tournament is used to celebrate the birthday of Zimbabwe president
Robert Mugabe who turned 90 February 21.
Harare City who finished third after losing to Highlanders took home
$10 000 and will have to get a good Castle Lager Premier Soccer League
season to be guaranteed of a return to the same competition next year.
As defending champions, Dynamos are guaranteed of Bob 91 Sup8r Cup
participation following the change of the rules and regulations
governing the competition. The winners of the competition now have an
automatic entry into the final.
Dynamos will shift their attention to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer
League championship in which they are hoping for a fourth successive
league title.
The manner in which Dynamos dominated the game against Highlanders is
a warning that Dynamos will not be easy pickings in their quest to
retain their title.
