About 80 Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) members in Kimberley in the Northern Cape have re-joined the African National Congress (ANC). Among them are also provincial leaders.
The defectors gathered at the Social Centre in Galeshewe township. They say the EFF will never be able to care about the needs of South Africans, saying that the ANC is their only hope. They burnt EFF t-shirts, berets and membership cards.
Former EFF leader of the Francis Baard District, Kabelo Mzolo, lashed out at the party.
“We come to the burial of EFF in the Northern Cape. I used to serve in the provincial executive committee (PEC) in the structures of the EFF. We have tirelessly worked with the EFF and we have realised that there is no democracy in the EFF.”
Mzolo has described the party as autocratic.
“EFF is a command-based structure. It is autocratic, and it will never take South Africans forward. The policies that they are advocating are in the wrong hands of Malema, who is a capitalist, who is arrogant, who does not have regard for the poor.”
