Ambassador Aldo Dell’ Ariccia who was in Insukamimi to commission Insukamini Irrigation scheme partly funded by EU assured Zimbabwe for continued co-operation.
“I assure you that the EU does not intend to withdraw funds from Zimbabwe but we are seeing how we can consolidate our support to the people of this country and also see how we can continue cooperating,” he said.
Aldo Dell’ Ariccia added that Zimbabweans have ultimate say about homosexuality saying that will not influence EU policies on Zimbabwe.
Ambassador Aldo Dell’ Ariccia added that they were satisfied with the success of the Insukamini project which is under EU’s Smallholder Micro-Irrigation development support programme.
While the program was launched as a humanitarian effort, the farmers are now self sufficient
and while they have managed to put food on their tables they are now realising profits.
The scheme has more than a hundred beneficiaries who confirmed they had ceased to be dependent on donors as they are now able to provide for their families.
