Fans See Blanks As ZBC Refuses To Cover Matches

ZBC has maintained a blackout on television and news bulletins on radio following the impasse. The Premier Soccer League signed a  US$600 000 sponsorship with Delta Beverages under their Castle Lager brand.
However most people and the listeners have been left in the cold on football matters as most of the country’s newspapers do not reach the areas and they rely on radio for information.

Happison Muchechetere, a senior official at the state broadcaster told journalists that the corporation will continue with the blackout of league matches until the sponsor coughs up.He added that Delta Beverages should foot the costs for coverages of the matches like in previous years when the Premier Soccer League was sponsored by CBZ.

“If we send a television camera to Rufaro Stadium today to record match every angle that is captured is branded Castle Lager and that is advertising. So we have to run huge costs, advertising the products or we can discuss and consider previous arrangements like with CBZ where the sponsors were contributing to the costs for coverage,” Muchechetere said
