The 34-year old former AmaZulu and Dynamos player is being nursed at his mum’s home in Lobengula West high-density suburb.
The mother said her son was complaining of chest problems and influenza. Sibanda blamed his ill health due to heavy drinking.
“ I have been a heavy drinker all my life but I have since quit,” Sibanda said.
Sibanda started his career at Zimbabwe Saints in 1999. He was capped 11 times for the Warriors. He has part of the history making squad that took part in the African Nations Cup in Tunisia in 2004. Sibanda was also part of the Warriors that participated at the Nations Cup in Egypt in 2006. He played alongside Esrom Nyandoro, Tinashe Nengomasha, Peter Ndlovu and Zvenyika Makonese.
Sibanda is a father of two boys, Brendan (15) and Brian (11).
