The Harare City Council has officially terminated the contract of suspended Town Clerk, Dr Tendai Mahachi.
Acting Mayor, Councillor Tranos Moyo told the ZBC News soon after a special council meeting which was held in a record 11 minutes, that council resolved to part ways with Dr Mahachi in the best interest of the residents.
Dr Mahachi was suspended from office by Mayor Bernard Manyenyeni recently to pave way for investigations into hefty salaries and allowances to council’s top brass and many other issues.
He then demanded a US$3 million golden hand shake but this was rejected as outrageous.
Meanwhile, three candidates identified as the current chamber secretary Josephine Ncube, human resources director Cainos Chimombe and city health officer Dr Prosper Chonzi are reportedly vying for the top post left vacant by Dr Mahachi.
