Harare City Council Uses Tractors To Roundup Vendors

“We have no transport to take the vendors to the Police,” said a senior official who was driving the tractor. “The Council does not have money to hire better vehicles either and so we have to use this tractor and trailer instead.”

He said the council did not have cash for fuel and this was hampering the rounding up of the vendors in the city centre.

“We are poor and need to survive,” said a vendor in an interview. “They (City Fathers) must arrest thieves who are causing havoc in town and not us who are poor and only simply trying to earn a decent living.”
