Harare, June 13, 2016 – A Harare youth activist died on Saturday night when he plunged from the seventh floor of a city hotel under tragic circumstances.

Police confirmed the incident.

Roy Issa, who was constituency commander for the Temba Mliswa’s Youth Advocacy for Reform and Democracy (YARD), died in the early hours of Sunday morning in the company of friends.

Sources close to the fateful incident said Issa, who was in his 20s, met his death while drunk when he had visited a friend who was booked in the hotel.

He reportedly “threw” himself from the hotel room through the window under unclear circumstances.

Police Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed the incident saying the deceased was drunk and died immediately after the fall.

“It is very true, a person fell and died from the 7th floor at Jameson hotel,” said Charamba.

Ironically, Issa’s last Facebook post on June 1 read, “living life”.
