Highlanders Face CAPS United in Quarter Finals

The glamour boys, Dynamos were drawn against Hwange while Motor Action will take on Monomotapa in a Harare derby. Gunners will play Shabanie mine

The teams Motor Action, Dynamos, Highlanders and Gunners were seeded in the draw according to the final standings of the Premier Soccer League title race last year.

The Banc ABC Sup8r matches will have extra time and penalty shootouts in the event of a stalemate after 90 minutes. The tournament is spread in all parts of the country with KweKwe, Chiredzi, Mutare, and Kariba set to host the games.

Of the eight teams that went into the hat for the draw, six that include Dynamos, Highlanders, CAPS United, Monomotapa, Gunners, and Motor Action have won the Zimbabwe league title before while only two, and Hwange and Shabanie have not.

The winners of the Banc ABC Sup8r tournament will take home $50 000 with the runners up guaranteed a $20 000 prize money. The losing quarter finalists will get $6 000. Bank ABC marketing manager, Desmund Ali said the huge difference in the prize money to be distributed is to encourage the teams to aim for the big prize.

There will also be $500 package for the player of the tournament while the top goal scorer and the goalkeeper of the tournament will also be rewarded.

Another draw will be conducted to pair the semi finalists and Highlanders chairman, Themba Ndlela whose team has not won this competition since it was introduced in 2008 declared that this year the trophy will be theirs but Motor Action who also have the same record in the competition through club owner, Eric Rosen said they have waited for too long and now was their time.

Dynamos is the defending champions after they beat CAPS United 3-2 in last year’s final.
