The team announced on its website Tuesday that it had parted was with the youngster who joined the club last season.
“The boy’s mind was no longer here and he was home sick so we decided to terminate his contract,” said the Ajax Cape Town Chief Executive Officer, George Comitis
The team also cited Gutu’s minor status which gave him problems in getting registered by the South African Premier Soccer League as another reason why they failed to keep him. Gutu’s parents who were need to complete the gurdianship papers are all deceased.
“We tried everything to register him but failed. He was staying with his uncle in Zimbabwe and we needed to transfer his guardianship to another relative here in South Africa but that takes a long process,” said Comitis.
