Zanu (PF) Insiza district has called for the expulsion of legislator Andrew Langa from the party on allegations of corruption and abuse of office.
Insiza North National Assembly Member Langa is under fire from party members in the district who accuse him of abusing his office for corrupt activities.
The party members say Langa who is also Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture has tarnished the image of Zanu PF.
There was consensus at a meeting that was held on Tuesday at the district party offices that Langa should be expelled from the party as he is allegedly working against the principles of Zanu PF.
Reacting to allegations that Langa is involved in a land scam in which plots and stands were sold to beneficiaries in the district, politburo member Naison Khutshwekhaya Ndlovu said such conduct is counter-revolutionary since Zanu PF fought for people’s right to the land.
The party members appended their signatures on a petition that will be forwarded to the politburo.
Earlier placard carrying members demonstrated around the party offices in Filabusi denouncing Langa.
Contacted for comment, Langa told the ZBC News, he would make a response on Wednesday after going through the allegations being levelled against him.
In 2014 Langa was unceremoniously removed as Matabeleleland South provincial chairperson in a vote of no confidence. He has since kept a very low profile in his sports ministerial post leaving his deputy Tabetha Malinga Kanengoni more visible.
