Journalists Trade Blows As Taderera Is Elected SWAZ Boss

The elections were marred by chaos as two journalists Tendai Ndemera and Blackmore Mavura traded blows during the voting process following a misunderstanding.
Taderera one of the most revered radio personalities in Zimbabwe having made his mark as a presenter and soccer commentator beat Sunday Mail Sports Editor Goodwill Zunidza to the chairman’s post.

The incumbent chairman Wellington Nyoni from the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) did not contest the election. SFM’s Dave Simba was voted the vice chairman of SWAZ while Chronicle Sports Editor Lovemore Dube is the new secretary.
Philemon Mhlanga of Football Focus retained his post as treasurer. The committee member representing Eastern Region is Ray Bande from Manica Post, while Lee Mangena from ZBC will represent the Southern region. Tawanda Karombo a freelance journalist was voted the committee member for the Northern Region.
The executive is expected to steer the troubled SWAZ ship, which has been rocked with infighting that threatened to tear apart the association.
