Judgement On Tsvangirai Wedding Expected On Wednesday
Tsvangirai wants to wed Elizabeth Macheka in Harare but Locadia Karimatsenga is pushing to stop the ceremony arguing the Tsvangirai is still her husband.
Karimatsenga is arguing that she is customarily married to Tsvangirai. Tsvangirai claims he terminated the relationship last November, citing interference from Zanu (PF).
Lawyers representing both parties spent four hours arguing before Justice Guvava on the merits and demerits of Karimatsenga’s application.
Tsvangirai’s lawyers said the Prime Minister and Macheka exchanged wedding vows on August 27 at the magistrates’ courts in Harare.
The judge said she will let her judgment known tomorrow at 3pm.
The wedding is slated to take place at the upmarket Rain Tree Lodge in Harare. Several leaders have been invited to the ceremony.
Tsvangirai’s lawyer, Innocent Chagonda is confident Karimatsenga’s application will be thrown out. The lawyer is arguing the application was an abuse of the court process as it was aimed at harassing the Prime Minister.
