Kasukuwere, Wadyajena In Heated Parly Verbal Exchange

There was drama at parliament today when Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister Saviour Kasukuwere appeared before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment.

Kasukuwere clashed with portfolio chairman  Justice Mayor Wadyajena over the US$10 million pledges by diamond mining companies to the Zimunya-Marange Community Share Ownership Trust.

Kasukuwere and Cde Wadyajena had a verbal exchange, trading accusations and counter accusations.

The Minister had been summoned to give clarification on the Zimunya-Marange Share Ownership Trust as the committee had previously received conflicting statements.

Minister Kasukuwere says there was no agreement signed between government and diamond mining companies over the US$10 million pledge.

Diamond mining firms executives who appeared before the committee previously denied having agreed to inject US$10 million each into the community share ownership trust.
