The bride-to-be and Prince William made the last stop on a tour of Britain on Monday, visiting one of the Prince’s community centres in Lancashire, northern England.
It was their last public appearance until they are seen at the Westminster Abbey altar on April 29.
When Kate, who was looking even more slender than normal, was asked by checkout worker Amanda Wood, 46, if she was nervous ahead of the big day, Kate replied: “Yes, of course I am.”
She told another well-wisher: “I can’t believe it’s coming so soon now.”
William also recently revealed he was hit by apprehension ahead of the big day and said his knees were “tapping” at the wedding rehearsal.
On Monday he praised his future wife, and described how he was “very fortunate”.
The prince, an RAF search-and-rescue pilot, told the crowd: “I know that I am very fortunate. I have the support of my family and friends. I do a job I enjoy . . . and I have Catherine.”
Monday’s walkabout was the fourth of their engagement tour, after visiting Wales, Ireland and Scotland.
Kate wowed the delighted crowds in her fitted navy suit and a black umbrella to protect her from the torrential downpour.
She wore her hair half up and down in what some royal observers speculated was a road-test of her wedding day hairstyle.
While details of her wedding dress and the gown’s designer remain secret until her arrival at the Abbey, Kate’s make-up will be natural and fuss-free.
The future princess has opted to ditch using a make-up artist for her wedding and will do her make-up herself, it was revealed on Monday.
Kate did her own make-up for the royal engagement announcement last year.
Princess Diana’s former make-up artist, Mary Greenwell, who was at one point rumoured to be part of Kate’s wedding day beauty team, said Kate could pull off a do-it-herself job.
“She is such a natural beauty,” Miss Greenwell told Hello magazine. “
