Loughty Dube Takes Charge Of VMCZ

Harare, November 28, 2013 – Seasoned journalist Loughty Dube has taken over the reins at the Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe (VMCZ) following the resignation of the organisation’s executive director, Takura Zhangazha.

Zhangazha leaves VMCZ at the end of this month to pursue other interests after having been with the media self-regulation body for three years.

VMCZ board chairperson Alec Muchadehama announced Thursday that, Dube will assume the role of Acting Executive Director of the organisation with effect from 01 December.

“On behalf of the VMCZ Board I wish Mr. Dube well in his new responsibilities and I call on all VMCZ members and stakeholders to support him in his newfound responsibilities,” said Muchadehama.

 

Prior to this appointment Dube has been VMCZ Programmes Officer, Advocacy and Complaints.He has over 15 years media and training experience. He has held several leadership positions in media organisations,including being chairperson of the Media Institute of Southern Africa (Zimbabwean chapter).
