Macheso Rocks Gweru

Macheso, sent music lovers into a frenzy as he played till dawn on Sunday.

Revellers told Radio VOP that the sungura maestro had given a brilliant performance.  The show was Macheso’s first show this year in the Midlands capital.   Macheso played at Midlands hotel with the hotel’s general manager Rickie Dabvu confirming that Macheso attracted almost 3 000 people.

“We have seen that indeed the sungura king is a crowd puller. We sold almost 3 000 tickets and indeed recorded brisk business,” Dabvu said.  This was despite the rain showers that characterised the city.

Macheso’s supporters danced and sang along as he sang songs revellers requested.

Tendai Mangoma, one of th revellers at the show said: “Macheso should come more often. The city hardly has entertainment. This was the best weekend of 2011 so far,” she said. Admore Mubayiwa added: “we wish he could have played until late Sunday. Despite that he played till Sunday morning we were still left craving for more. Macheso really knows how to play the guitar.”
