Chitsa died Friday morning at her house in Luveve high density suburb, Tsepiso Mpofu, the MDC T Bulawayo deputy secretary general told Radio VOP.
The cause of her death has not yet been ascertained but Chitsa has been in and out of hospital suffering from a heart condition.
“We have learnt with shock and sadness over the untimely death of our Senator.
“We are in a loss of words as her death comes when we are still morning the passing away of another Senator, Gladys Gombami,” Mpofu told Radio VOP in an interview.
‘It’s a big loss for the Women’s Assembly and the party as a whole,” she added.
Chitsa was the MDC T’s national women’s assembly vice chairperson. Theresa Makone is the national women’s assembly chairperson.
Chitsa’s death follows the death of Gombami, another Bulawayo Senator who died in December after complaining of disorientation and dizziness when she was on her way home to Bulawayo from a funeral in Gokwe.
She was rushed to a hospital in Kadoma where she died.
Gombami was the MDC T Bulawayo provincial women’s assembly chairperson and also the deputy chairperson for the parliamentary select committee in charge of revising the constitution.
She was also the Tsvangirai MDC’s deputy chief whip in the Senate.
