The Mighty Warriors are now placed 94th in the world, two places up the ladder, from 96th when the last rankings were updated by the world football governing body.
This is an opposite direction of where the men’s soccer team is heading as the Warriors are on a downward trend.
The Mighty Warriors are now placed 13th in Africa. Africa has 36 women’s football placing teams with Lesotho on the tail end of Africa’s women’s football.
The Warriors have dropped from 100 to 106 in the world and 27th in Africa down from 26th in July.
The Mighty Warriors upward move follows their 5-0 thumping of the Zambian team on August 8 in a friendly match at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Lusaka.
The game was played on a Fifa date, which contributed to three points on the Zimbabwean team. The Mighty Warriors’ highest Fifa world ranking has been 85 while their lowest has been 118.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons are the top ranked team in Africa and are placed 27th in the world ahead of Cameroon and Ghana. The Nigerians, who failed to qualify for last year’s All Africa Games after losing to Cameroon, have been Africa’s top women’s football team for years.
There was little movement in the world’s top 10 with the USA who won their third Olympic gold medal in London this month remaining the world’s top ranked women’s football team ahead of Germany, Japan and Brazil.
