Mugabe Back Home From Singapore
He did not give any interviews to journalists leaving Minister of Information and Publicity Webster Shamhu to tell journalists that Mugabe is as “fit as a fiddle.”
Mugabe was accompanied by his wife Grace and was walked down to his car by Vice President Joice Mujuru before being immediately whisked away.
He walked with a slight limp. He is expected to chair a cabinet meeting later today.
A host of his party and government officials lined up at the airport to welcome him on the rainy morning.
Speculation over Mugabe’s health heightened over the Easter holiday after he clocked over a week out of the country forcing the cancellation of important government and party meetings such as cabinet and politburo meetings.
The mainstream Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party has complained that Mugabe’s continued absence is derailing government business. The party has demanded that Mugabe should come out clean on the status of his health and stop holding the country to ransom.
