Mugabe Diarrhoea Remarks Lands MDC MP In Trouble
Court officials at Murambinda Magistrates Court summoned MDC Makoni South Member of Parliament Pishai Muchauraya to stand trial last Friday on charges of undermining and insulting the authority of President Mugabe.
The police allege that Muchauraya from Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s party insulted the octogenarian leader in October 2006 when he told party supporters that; “Robert Mugabe is now old and is suffering from chronic diarrhoea and is now living under the constant aid of a doctor.”
The police say not only did Muchauraya make false statements by uttering such a statement but he also engendered feelings of hostility towards or caused hatred, contempt or ridicule of the President Mugabe.
However, the trial could not commence as the police failed to hand over the docket against Muchauraya to prosecutors.
This is not the first time that an MDC Member of Parliament has been dragged before the courts for insulting President Mugabe.
Last month the police charged MDC Senator Morgan Komichi with undermining the authority of or insulting President Mugabe.
The police alleged that Komichi, undermined and insulted President Mugabe by singing an insulting song at a party rally in Mashonaland Central with the lyrics “Grace’s husband reminds me of my donkey which died long long back referring to President Robert Gabriel Mugabe who is husband of the first Lady Comrade Grace Mugabe”.
