Mugabe Inspired By Gospel Singer Shingisai Suluma

Mugabe who turned 88 this month attended his birthday celebration hosted by his Zanu (PF) party at Sakubva stadium in Mutare made a passionate request of Shingisai Suluma’s song —Nanhasi to be played.

“I found myself instinctively humming the chorus of the song by Shingisai Suluma —Nanhasi Munongondichengeta baba (even today you still take care of me God), handinganeti kutenda baba (I will always thank you my father). I hope you will sing it for me, I make that request,” Mugabe said.
“I have been receiving good wishes, gifts, messages, blessings and prayers from within and outside Zimbabwe.”

Mugabe said the lyrics of the song inspires him to hope that he can still survive for more years even at his advanced age of 88.Zanu (PF) has in the past lured musicians to play songs for them for people to associate with them. The gospel group Mahendere brothers have been singing and doing projects under Zanu (PF) in the past two years producing jingles for Mugabe.

Four huge cakes weighing 88 kilogrammes each were presented to Mugabe who had his two sons Robert junior and Bellarmine Chatunga accompanying him to cut the cakes.

Mugabe said elections must be held this year blasting the MDC led by his unity government counterpart Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai for delaying constitution making to push elections further.

He blasted Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron for once saying that countries that receive aid from Britain must accept gay rights.
