Mugabe Will Not Attend ANC Celebrations – Presidential Spokesman

Presidential spokesman George Charamba said late on Thursday Acting President Joice Mujuru would instead represent Mugabe at the celebrations scheduled for Bloemfontein from Saturday.
“His Excellency, the President who started his annual leave recently, and who is in the Far East, is unable to personally attend these important celebrations to which he was invited. Amai Mujuru will be accompanied by senior Party officials,” said Charamba, adding that Mujuru would be expected back in the country mid next week.
 Charamba said in the meanwhile the Office of the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet has announced the appointment of John Nkomo as acting President with effect from Friday, 6 January 2012. until the end of the month when President Mugabe is expected to resume his official duties.
