Mutodi Complainant Withdraws

Legal squabbles at Energy Mutodi’s National Housing Development Trust which saw him dragged to court on allegations of swindling hundreds of thousands of dollars from the fund have been put to rest after the complainant in the matter withdrew the case.

Mutodi was accused of having misappropriated US$300 000 from the National Housing Development Trust and converted it to his own use by Boniface Chikono, one of the board members of the trust.

However, he has since withdrawn the matter that was before a Harare magistrate following a board meeting during which an audit report proved that the money was well accounted for.

According to the report, US$152 000 was used to purchase 300 stands allocated to NHDT members from Southlands.

A further US$100 000 was paid for land in Masvingo to Walbern Investments for 1000 stands while the remaining US$50 000 was used to pay salary arrears.

Some board members are said to have been keen to be permanently appointed on Mutodi’s organisations leading to the squabbles.
