Johannesburg – Sammy Moeti who played Vho-Mushasha, the sangoma and healer of the people in Thathe, in Muvhango died on Monday morning.
The Muvhango team announced on Facebook, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sammy Moeti who used to play Vho-Mushasha. A man who brought us great entertainment and amusement. He passed on last night after a long illness. Our most sincere condolences go out to his family. May your soul rest in peace.”
No memorial or funeral arrangements have been made public yet.
The 66-year-old Moeti was admitted at Elim hospital outside Louis Trichardt where he died.
Moeti who once worked as a librarian at the SABC is survived by his wife and son.
His niece, Stella Thovhakale says she is saddened by his death. “What I can say is that it is very much painful, more so that he was my uncle and I was depending on him, although I was working. We were able to assist each other and he was just my father, my mother and my uncle. He was like my biological mother, my biological father.”
