“The latest mindless and cowardly attacks by Boko Haram members specifically directed at churches were pre-meditated,” Owoye Azazi said in the statement, which also listed a suicide bombing at a secret police building in the northeast.
At least 40 people died.
Meanwhile, Israel is to send medical aid to people wounded in the blasts.
“Israel condemns in the strongest terms these attacks carried out on Christmas Day, and expresses its deepest condolences over the deaths of innocent people,” a foreign ministry statement said.
The US has described the attacks as “senseless violence”.
“We have been in contact with Nigerian officials about what initially appear to be terrorist acts and pledge to assist them in bringing those responsible to justice,” the White House said in a statement. AFP
