Media practitioner Patience Zirima has been apponted as the new director Media Monitoring Project- Zimbabwe (MMPZ)
In a statement, MMPZ trustees announced that the appointment is with effect from February 1, 2015.
Zirima, who holds media qualifications from the University of Zimbabwe replaces Andy Moyse who has been reassigned to the post of senior strategic advisor of the media organisation.
She was previously coordinator of the Media Alliance of Zimbabwe (MAZ) which brings together the MMPZ, Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA-Zimbabwe) and the Federation of African Media Women Zimbabwe (FAMWZ) and the Zimbabwe Union of Journailists (ZUJ) among others. In recent years Zirima has been involved in organising meetings of media stakeholders in order to discuss various issues affecting the sector in Zimbabwe.
Established in 1999 the Media Monitoring Project (Zimbabwe) is an independent Trust that works to promote freedom of expression and responsible journalism in Zimbabwe. It aims to achieve this through monitoring and analysis of the news and current affairs output on domestic radio and television, and in the print media. Its findings are made public through the publication of weekly media reviews and other regular reports.
