Oscar Pistorius has arrived at the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Facility where he will begin serving his sentence.
The North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria earlier sentenced Pistorius to five years in prison after being found guilty of culpable homicide for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day last year.
Oscar Pistorius will most likely only spend 10 months in prison.
This follows after Judge Thokozile Masipa sentenced him to five years in prison in terms of the act on the count of culpable homicide.
Masipa sentenced the athlete to spend a maximum of five years behind bars, but he will be eligible for parole after serving a sixth of his sentence.
On count two, Masipa, sentenced Pistorius to three years in prison suspended for five years.
Both sentences will run concurrently. The athlete looked composed as he was escorted down to the holding cells.
It remains to be seen whether or not the defence will lodge an application for bail and or whether they will decide to appeal.
