President Robert Mugabe has appointed Mr Prince Machaya to the post of Attorney General of Zimbabwe.
The appointment is in terms of section 114 (1) of the constitution of Zimbabwe.
Machaya has been Deputy Attorney General since December 2007 and his new appointment will see the expeditious alignment of legislation to the constitution since this is one of his core functions as Attorney-General.
Machaya, who replaces Johannes Tomana who was promoted to be the Prosecutor General, is expected to take the oath of office soon.
Other attorneys general since independence include Patrick Chinamasa, Andrew Chigovera and Sobusa Gula Ndebele.
