Harare, September 28, 2013 – The Premier Soccer League, the top flight football governing body,
have resolved to reduce gate charges for the Mbada Diamonds Cup
matches to only a $1 down from the normal $3.
This follows recommendations by the sponsors who felt that since they
cater for all club expenses there was no need to keep the gate fees at
$3 for the cheapest seat in the stadiums.
The sponsors are paying for expenses such as transport, accommodation,
and match appearance fees for the players. The 18 players picked up by
the coach are paid $100 match appearance fees each.
The secretary general of the Zimbabwe National Soccer Supporters
Association Fortune Bwoni says this is the best ever decision the
Premier Soccer League have ever made with regards to supporters’
The Premier Soccer League have pegged the minimum gate charges at $3
for all Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches. Some clubs have in
some occasions increased the charges to $5 whenever they play big
clubs like Dynamos and Highlanders.
The Mbada Daimonds Cup roars into life this week with defending
champions Dynamos facing Tripple B. The popular Harare club also won
the competition in 2011. Highlanders play against Gishon Ntini’s
Triangle in a double header that will also feature How Mine against
Black Rhinos at Babourfields Stadium Sunday.
Harare City who are placed second on the league table will face last
year’s Mbada Diamonds Cup runner up Monomotapa with Caps United in a
Harare derby against Motor Action but the match being played at
Sakubva Stadium in Mutare.
Banc ABC Sup8r finalists FC Platinum will play Hwange while Shabanie
Mine play Chicken Inn at Mandava Stadium. Ironically the two teams
also met in the just ended Banc ABC Sup8r tournament.
