Pretoria, June 10, 2014-South Africa’s minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe says President Jacob Zuma has been in regular contact with his deputy Cyril Ramaphosa ahead of the state of a cabinet Lekgotla in Pretoria on Tuesday.
Ramaphosa is chairing the three-day gathering as President Zuma recovers at home after a busy election period. Zuma was discharged after spending the night in hospital over the weekend and he’s missing the Lekgotla.
Radebe says the absence of Zuma at the cabinet Lekgotla will not impact on deliberations about key issues that need to be reflected in his State of the Nation Address on Tuesday next week. The Lekgotla will discuss government’s plans for the fifth democratic Parliament and Zuma’s second term.
Radebe says: “Well the Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa is in constant touch with our President. They’ve met yesterday (Monday). He is improving; the Deputy President was with him last night and this morning. He is resting so that he is ready for the State of the Nation Address on Tuesday the 17th.”
