Ngotoane River, which passes near the border post, broke its banks after a heavy rain. Provincial coordinator Mtheto Bele says travelers from Zeerust and other areas are now free to use the Swartkopfontein border post.
Motorists were advised to use alternative border posts such as Skilpadshek and Kopfontein. The provincial Home Affairs spokesperson Moeketsi Mosenthal, said the situation was becoming increasingly dangerous.
