Director Manuel Bagoro told Radio VOP on Wednesday that the talented musician was expected to go on stage on Sunday, May 02.
“We are really excited about Salif Keita, he is a great musician and we are glad that he is coming to Zimbabwe for this concert .He will
perform on the closing day of the HIFA that is on Sunday at 2030hrs.It is going to be a wonderful and a really emotional closure of the six day festival and there will be fireworks,” said Bagorro.
With over a 35-year career behind him, Keita built a name for himself through extensive performances around the world. As an albino, Keita once was disowned by his own father and as a musician, he was rejected by the aristocracy of his own caste.
This year’s HIFA, the biggest arts event in the country kicks off on April 27 under the theme “About Face.”
