Hundreds of music revelers who attended the Senzeni Na? Concert at the Book Cafe were taken down memory lane Albert Nyathi performed some of his old and new tracks, bringing together some of the artists who were part of the original group 20 years ago.
Nyathi thrilled the crowd with his old and new tracks, a fusion of poetry and music that won the hearts of many as he sang about peace all delivered in a melancholic manner that moved the audience.
The night was a fusion show of poetry, music and comedy as various artistes took to the centre stage in support of the commemoration.
Prudence Katomeni Mbofana, Poet Chirikure Chirikure and comedians – The Boss and Carl Joshua Ncube also performed.
The show emphasised the diversity of Zimbabwe as they performed in Tonga, Shona, English, Ndebele and Kalanga.
Senzeni Na? is the track that catapulted Nyathi to prominence and the video was directed and shot by the ZBC-TV’s “A Team.”
The show marked the beginning of Nyathi’s public performances after a long time. He is now set to perform in Bulawayo on the 26th of September.
The 20th anniversary show also paid tribute to the late veteran journalist Thomas Deve who succumbed to heart attack last week.
